Holyoke mayoral candidates debate on 22News

Morse, O'Connell to discuss the issues

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – There is only a week to go until voters in cities across Massachusetts will go to the polls, and 22News is working for you with a series of debates allowing you to hear from local mayoral candidates. Tuesday afternoon, the candidates for mayor of Holyoke- incumbent Mayor Alex Morse and challenger Francis O’Connell- talked about the issues important to voters in the “Paper City,” such as public safety, economic development, and the state takeover of the city’s school system. They also discussed controversies, including the separation agreement with former City Solicitor Heather Egan, and allegedly sexist comments made by O’Connell about a city employee.

22News Anchor Rich Tettemer will moderated the debate, which aired at 12:30 on 22News and streamed live here on WWLP.com. The debate was held in the Lincoln-Douglas style, meaning that the candidates answered questions posed to them by their opponent. In case you miss it, the complete debate is posted here.
