Traffic light knocked over in Springfield accident

Police arrived quickly

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – No one was injured Sunday afternoon when a car knocked down a traffic light at a busy Springfield intersection.

The accident happened at the intersection of Berkshire Avenue and Bay Street, in the city’s Pine Point neighborhood. The car had gone up on the curb and ran into the pole.

Passerby Gerald Brown told 22News, he saw the whole thing. “I was on my way from church and I stopped at the stop light. I noticed there was a man going across the street. He saw a car coming towards him and he decided to go back on the other side of the street. And the driver lost control and cut the pole in half.”

Police arrived quickly. 22News will find out if there will be any charges brought against the driver.
