(NBC News) The driver responsible for a horrific motorcycle crash viewed by more than 3-million people says a wasp sting is to blame.
Shocking video shows the crash unfold. William Crum’s car swerves into a motorcycle as it attempts to pass him, throwing the two riders onto the pavement on a road near Granbury, Texas.
Crum’s reaction was even more shocking.
“I don’t care,” he says repeatedly when confronted by witnesses.
Crum was in court Tuesday, charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He now says he is sorry, and that his erratic driving was the result of an insect bite.
“All of a sudden I felt this tremendous stinging in my left leg and I thought it was a wasp or something,” he told reporters. “I immediately went like this, I was driving with my left hand, and I immediately went back, the other way.”
Motorcyclist Eric Sanders doesn’t buy the story and says he was targeted by Crum.
“He hit me on purpose. I do not care what he said. I don’t care what his explanation is,” Sanders said.
