BLANDFORD, Mass. (WWLP) – You possibly thought about winter for a glimpse second when temperatures dropped to 20 degrees a couple days ago, which had some people thinking about winter activities. One of the number one winter activities to do, skiing and snowboarding. And many local ski areas are excited for the season ahead.
Right now Blandford Ski Resort looks more like fall than winter, but the crews have already begun getting ready for the upcoming season. The fan guns that shoot the first snow padding to get the season started usually takes about five days. From there, the rest is up to the weather. These are the places that people hope for a lot of snow.
22News talked to Blandford Ski Area to find out what we can expect for the upcoming season. Zach Footi, Manager of Blandford Ski Area told 22News, “Hopefully quite a bit of snow. We have live music on the weekends and great skiiing, great racing, and an all around good atmosphere.”
Once the weather gets colder, Blandford should be ready to go and enjoy. Whether it’s skiing or sledding, the excitement is certainly in the air. Tonya Redick of Westfield said, “I would sled with my children absolutely I can handle that, much to clumpsy for snowboarding though.”
Being prepared for the cold is key and 22News talked to one person who was new to New England. We asked if he was ready for cold and snowy days ahead. Alex Moustave of Westfield said, “Yeah I am, I mean I got big jackets I hope that’s all I need some warm hats and try not to get frostbite.”
Layers are a must for this winter season.
