What you need to know about archery deer hunting season

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Monday marked the official start of archery season for deer hunting in Massachusetts.

Bow hunting season is from now until November 28th.

The State Department of Energy and Environmental Affairs says hunters are allowed to hunt 2 antlered deer per year, and as many antlerless deer as the hunter has a permit for.

An FID card is not required for bow hunting, but archers are not allowed to carry a firearm while hunting deer.

There are 85,000 to 95,000 deer statewide in Massachusetts.
