CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Western Massachusetts is waking up to record cold temperatures Monday morning. The previous record at Westover A.R.B. in Chicopee was 19º back in 1974, but we dropped to 16º before sunrise, setting a new record low for this date.
These temperatures are more than 20 degrees colder than average overnight lows and the coldest recorded temperatures in western Massachusetts since March 14th of this year!!!
While this isn’t dangerous cold, if you park your car outside, you’ll likely need to warm up the car before you head to work and possibly scrape frost off your windshield.
Temperatures are expected to rise to much more comfortable levels during the day, and highs should return to the 60’s later this week. Find out when with your latest 22News Storm Team Forecast.
