ERVING Mass. (WWLP) – Starting next week, Erving police officers will be equipped with body cameras when they’re on duty in the eastern Franklin County town.
A Florida study revealed that police used force less often when they were wearing body cameras.
People 22News spoke with thought it was a good idea, because it documents behavior of both the officer and the people he interacts with.
Allan Vieu said, “You don’t catch what goes on before the violence starts. Words could be shouted at each other. You never know what happens. With a body Camera, it will show everything.”
The Erving Police Department body cameras were purchased with a grant. Erving officers start wearing them October 26th.
