Holiday, weather provide boost for local economy

Fall has become a popular season for markets and growers

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – People across western Massachusetts took advantage of what is left of the nice weather on this long holiday weekend.

Atkins Farms Country Market saw a large crowd of people looking for pumpkins and apples.

The holiday weekend was the perfect time for these fall activities. When 22News stopped by people were enjoying the nice weather and putting money back into the local economy.

Donald Stone of Petersham said, “We were out on the motorcycle earlier, and you can’t really put a pumpkin on a motorcycle, so we decided to take a little ride and we come down in the valley. Amherst is a great area, so we took a ride down here.”

Fall has become a popular season for markets and growers like Atkins, as more and more people want to pick their own pumpkins or apples.
