LUDLOW Mass. (WWLP) – The 4th annual fundraiser for the Michael J. Dias Foundation was held in Ludlow Saturday night.
Hundreds gathered at the Gremio Lusitano Club in Springfield, including District Attorney Anthony Gulluni to raise awareness for those who face drug addiction in their lives.
Graduate of the program Michael Butcher, among others, discussed their recovery efforts and the ways their lives have improved.
The foundation’s co-founder and committee member told 22News about their mission. Maureen Rooney told 22News, “Finally I think we’ve reached the point of some awareness. Years ago it was a subject not talked about. Today thankfully it’s talked about and to become educated because drug addiction is a disease and it should be treated like a disease.”
The Michael Dias foundation owns and operates, Michael’s House Sober Community in Springfield.
