Suspect arrested in connection with an Athol home invasion

ATHOL, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Gardner was arrested on Wednesday for an alleged home invasion in Athol on October 4th.

According to Mary Carey of the Northwestern DA’s Office, 30-year-old Eric Abdow was arrested in Worcester. He is being held at the Athol Police Department on $50,000 cash bail.

Carey said Abdow and another suspect are accused of breaking into a home in Athol, assaulting the residents and threatening them with a gun. They got in the home by kicking down the door.

Abdow is facing the following charges:

  • Home invasion
  • Breaking and entering a building in the nighttime (felony)
  • Two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (handgun)
  • Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot)
  • Assault and Battery
  • Kidnapping
  • Witness Intimidation

Abdow will be arraigned in Orange District Court on Thursday, October 8th. No information has been available on the second suspect.

NOTE: Athol Police were assisted by members of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, the Northwestern District Attorney’s Anti-Crime Task Force and the Gardner Police Department.
