(NBC News) Hundreds gathered at Maine’s Maritime Academy Tuesday night to pray crew members of the cargo ship El Faro will be found alive.
Four of the missing mariners attended the school, including Captain Michael Davidson.
The vigil capped another day of searching for the missing ship, which lost power on its way to Puerto Rico from Florida last week and got caught in Hurricane Joaquin.
On Tuesday searchers in the air and on the water spotted more debris believed to be from the missing ship.
One person has been found dead and 32 others are still missing.
The boat’s owner, Tote Maritime, insists the captain and crew were not pressured to keep their delivery on schedule despite the growing storm.
NTSB investigators have arrived in Florida and will begin trying to figure out what went wrong.
“There have been questions from family members of why the ship set sail in light of the storm. That is one of the aspects of our investigation,” says NTSB Vice Chairman Bella Dinh-Zarr.
