Alleged armed suspect found in Springfield with no shirt

Suspect stole the victim’s wallet, which had about $344 in cash

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police arrested a violent suspect, Tuesday night, for allegedly slashing his victim during a robbery.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, the 36-year-old victim told police his attacker started a fight with him and took his wallet in a Main Street package store. He said his arm was slashed while he was trying to keep the man from stabbing him.

Within minutes, Sgt. Delaney said police spotted the accused armed robber, 49-year-old Kevin Jefferson of Springfield, on Main Street with no shirt on. Jefferson was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (knife), Armed Robbery, and Threat to Commit a Crime.

Jefferson was arraigned on Wednesday in Springfield District Court. The victim was taken to a local hospital and received several stitches.
