ALLEGAN, Mich. (WOOD) — An Allegan woman who survived a brutal beating and rape said she’s thankful to be alive, but she’s worried she was not the only victim of the two suspects.
The 21-year-old victim, who 24 Hour News 8 is not identifying by name, said she met one of the alleged assailants on the dating website PlentyOfFish.
She said she was excited for the date, but that quickly changed after she arrived at the home Duane Thompson, 26, and Robert Bluhm, 42, shared and they took her phone and keys.
When she told them she was going to tell police, she told 24 Hour News 8, they beat her with a two-by-four piece of lumber and punched her in the face. She said they forced her to drink alcohol and then raped her.
She said she was scared she would die, and that it was only by God’s grace she was able to escape when the men passed out.
“It does feel like it’s out of a horror movie,” the woman told 24 Hour News 8. “It’s something that I honestly thought I would never see unless it was on TV, and looking at it through your own eyes is something hard to do and even harder to try to get over it.”
According to court documents, Bluhm faces charges of felony assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and being a fourth-offense habitual offender. Thompson is charged with felony criminal sexual conduct – assault with intent to commit sexual penetration, third-degree CSC, felony assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, and being a third-offense habitual offender.
