FLORENCE, Mass. (WWLP) – Drivers who normally use the Pine Street Bridge in the Florence section of Northampton will have to find new routes to their destinations. The bridge is shutting down beginning Monday, and lasting through the end of October.
The bridge was originally set to undergo milling and paving, but the milling work has revealed some deterioration to the structure- so additional repairs will have to be made. Concrete decking an a reinforcing bar have to be replaced, and other steps have to be taken before the bridge can be repaved.
In the meantime, drivers can use the Meadow Street and Bliss Street bridges to cross the Mill River.
