Riders pedal miles in “Will Bike for Food”

Some pedaled 100 miles to help the hungry

HATFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Dozens of men and women on bicycles spent hours on western Massachusetts roads Sunday for a good cause.

This was the 5th annual “Will Bike for Food”, benefiting the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts in Hatfield. Some rode 10 miles, others 25 miles, and still others pedaled 100 miles to help the hungry who depend on the food bank.

Gretchen Dwyer of Amherst and her daughter took a breather after a long ride. “My daughter and I were looking for a challenge together, an athletic challenge we could this far.”

This is the second year that 22News Storm Team meteorologist Brian Lapis has been master of ceremonies for this food bank fundraiser.
