PHILADELPHIA (WWLP / NBC News) – Pope Francis has left the United States, departing on a plane from Philadelphia.
He’s left behind millions of faithful followers who were graced by his presence.
Members of the Springfield Diocese traveled to Philadelphia to witness the Pope’s final speakings in the United States, including the Mass Sunday evening.
Juan Carlos Valentin told 22News: “This is something we will never, ever forget in our lives.”
Before boarding his flight, the pope waved farewell to about 500 well-wishers gathered at the hangar and on the tarmac.
Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden were among the crowd to give Pope Francis a proper send-off.
A high school band played as the pope said his farewells to government representatives and clergy.
The Holy Father is now on his way to back to the Vatican.
