A look at the Movies

Lilly Tomlin, Julie Garner, Marcia Gay Harden, Sam Elliot

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – We’ve always known that Lilly Tomlin is a force of nature to be reckoned with, but as “Grandma”, Tomlin cuts loose with a comic and dramatic fury we’ve never seen before.

Her pregnant Granddaughter wants to have an abortion and grumpy “Grandma” goes on a rampage raising the money as well as raising the roof.

Granddaughter Julie Garner does all she can keeping up with her feisty “Grandma”.

Their search for a benefactor leads to juicy supporting roles for Marcia Gay Harden as Tomlin’s long suffering daughter, and Sam Elliot, Tomlin’s ex-husband, she’d rather not ask for anything.

Tomlin’s a holy terror taking her frustration on anyone who gets in her way.

As the free spirit blossoming into the over protective “Grandma”, whose forever embarrassing the teenager, Tomlin’s Terrific.

For a movie barely running 80 minutes, “Grandma’s” jam packed with enough warmth, humor and family values to give Lilly Tomlin a shot at the Oscars.

I’ll stay on “Grandma’s” good side by giving this touching tribute to grandmotherly love 3 stars. Welcome back Lilly Tomlin, your performance as “Grandma” has been worth the wait.
