SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Children’s Study Home in Springfield celebrated 150 years of service with a dance Saturday night.
The Grand Gala was at the Sheraton Hotel in Springfield, honoring the importance of social services for children and families. Guests enjoyed an evening of dancing, live music, and a prepared dinner.
Sheriff Michael Ashe and his brother Jay were both honored for their service to the community and work with the study home. Jay Ashe told 22News, “That’s where we were 40 years ago, working with kids and we’ve partnered with them on some programs for strengthening families.”
The Children’s Study Home dates back to 1865 when it was founded near the end of the Civil War.
It was the first service agency of its kind in western Massachusetts.
