Mother & son among those arrested in Springfield drug bust

Five suspects were charged with selling marijuana

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police arrested five alleged drug dealers this week during a raid on King Street and Fenwick Street.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, detectives in the Narcotics Unit started a drug investigation at 129 King Street and 35 Fenwick Street after getting a number of complaints from the neighborhood.

Detectives made several drug purchases at those addresses and then applied for two search warrants. Sgt. Delaney said when the detectives moved in, they interrupted a drug deal.

Sgt. Delaney said five people were arrested; 18-year-old Antonio Laboy of Springfield, 23-year-old Christopher Collins of Amherst, 38-year-old Glenden Rivera of Springfield, 24-year-old Andre Yarns of East Longmeadow, and 18-year-old Antonio Sanchez of Springfield.

The four men arrested are alleged gang members, while the woman, Glenden Rivera, is the mother of Antonio Sanchez. Sgt. Delaney said Rivera allegedly took part in the drug deals, helping her son.

The detectives seized $3,180 in cash, Glock .40 cal firearm, large amount of packaged Marijuana for sale, and drug paraphernalia. Sgt. Delaney said Sanchez was armed with the .40 caliber Glock semi-automatic.

All five suspects were charged with Distribution of Marijuana, Possession With Intent (Marijuana), and Carrying a Firearm.
