SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police arrested a man on School and Union Street when they witnessed him make a drug sale while on a scooter.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, on Friday, 28-year-old Luis Colon of Springfield was arrested at 282 Union Street after he attempted to run from police, leaving his scooter behind.

Sgt. Delaney said the arresting officers found packaged heroin and cocaine hidden in Colon’s helmet, which he tried to get rid of when he saw the officers coming. They also found a large knife on him.

Colon, who is a known drug dealer, is being charged with the following:

  • Possession of Cocaine With Intent to Distribute
  • Possession of Heroin With Intent to Distribute
  • Violation of a Drug Free School Zone (Milton Bradley)
  • Operating a MV With a Revoked License
