NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Melissa Kidd, the former Woodside High School teacher accused of showing nude pictures of herself to students, has been found guilty on two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Kidd was sentenced to 12 months in jail with 12 months suspended, five years good behavior and 50 hours of community service.
She also had to surrender her teacher’s license.
The Newport News Police Department was contacted March 31 about Kidd showing nude pictures of herself to students, which happened on school property. According to police, the two female students who reportedly saw the photos were 16 and 17-years-old, at the time. They told investigators Kidd showed them before and after pictures of her breast augmentation. One of the students said the teacher also showed photos of her genitals, according to court papers.
Kidd was a business teacher at the school and had been working there since August 2014.
