Evening training flights planned at Barnes

Flights scheduled between Sept. 28-Oct. 2 and from Oct. 6-Oct. 9

WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Those who live near Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield may be hearing some additional jet noise at night over the next couple weeks. The 104th Fighter Wing announced plans for evening training flights from September 28-October 2, and from October 6-October 9.

F-15 jets will take off from the base between 6:15 and 7:15 P.M., with landings from 8:00 to 9:00 P.M.

In a news release sent to 22News, the 104th says the nighttime flights are important in their mission to protect the skies over the Northeast, as pilots need to be ready to respond to threats at any time, and in all weather conditions.
