SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A man from Chicopee was charged Thursday in U.S. District Court in Springfield with receiving and possessing child pornography.
According to U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz, 47-year-old Victor Stepus was indicted on 3 counts of receipt of material involving the sexual exploitation of children and 1 count of possessing material involving the sexual exploitation of children.
On August 21st, federal agents searched Stepus’s home and found over 8,000 pictures and 33 videos of child porn in his personal computer, according to court documents. The images depicted sexual abuse, including bondage, of girls as young as eight years old.
Ortiz said Stepus admitted to the federal agents that he used his computer to download child porn, two to three times a week, for the past several years.
For receiving child porn, Stepus faces 5 to 20 years in prison, 5 to a lifetime of supervised release, a fine of $250,000, forfeiture and restitution. For possession, he faces 20 years in prison, 5 to a lifetime of supervised release, a fine of $250,000, forfeiture and restitution.
