SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Warm clothing for deserving children: that is what the Salvation Army’s Coats for Kids drive is all about.
Donors have begun answering the call by bringing their used garments to Belmont Laundry in Springfield; one of the many drop-off locations across western Massachusetts. Belmont Laundry employee Melissa Rabideau told 22News that she has been a contributor for years.
“I have two growing teenage boys. Each year, they keep growing. It’s easy for me to bring it, I make sure some other child gets them,” Rabideau said.
Each coat and jacket will be dry cleaned before the Salvation Army distributes as many as 3,000 of these items of clothing. The Salvation Army has set up dozens of drop-off locations in western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. Click here for a complete listing.
The Coats for Kids campaign runs through October 16.
