North Adams Mayor comes in 2nd in preliminary election

Former Mayor John Barrett, III was the top vote-getter

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (WWLP) – It may only be the preliminary election, but there was something of an upset in the North Adams Mayor’s race Tuesday. Incumbent Mayor Richard Alcombright came in second.

Former long time North Adams Mayor John Barrett, III was the top vote-getter with 1,240 votes. Sitting Mayor Richard Alcombright secured his place on the November ballot with 974 votes.

Voters will decide between mayor Alcombright and former mayor Barrett in November. Eric Rudd was eliminated with 204 votes.

North Adams voter turnout was 28% for the preliminary election.
