(WTNH) — When the President of the United States travels, he uses Air Force One, but what does the leader of the Catholic Church use to fly from place to place?
When he can’t use the Pope-mobile, Pope Francis enlists the use of Italian airliner Alitalia to fly him to the various countries he visits. The Vatican charters the plane which carries the pope, his entourage, and dozens of flight attendants, as well as the pilots and flight attendants.
Pope Francis flew into Washington D.C. on an Alitalia aircraft, but for his tour of the United States, he will be using American Airlines. That plane will take him from D.C. to New York and Philadelphia before he flies back to Rome.
When the Pope is finished with his trip, the planes he used will simply go back into routine services.
So maybe, one day you could sit in the very same airline seat as the Pope.
