AIC students learn how to dress for success

A good turnout for AIC's panel discussion on "Dressing for Success

SPRINGFIELD Mass. (WWLP) – American International College students got a real world lesson Tuesday night; that if they want a professional career, they’ll have to dress the part. It was a good turnout for AIC’s panel discussion on “Dressing for Success.”

One of panelists told the students they have to overcome corporate prejudice against millennials; the belief that they’re lazy. They learned you have to dress the part in a business environment.

Ocean Curlind told 22News, “You can’t go to a job in a sweatshirt and sweat pants.  You’re more likely to get the job if you’re in a tie and look nice and presentable. People look at you different. Totally.”

Kaila Barnette said, “Dress for success is needed. A suit and tie. A Nice Blouse will do for any lady.”

Students were told it’s the important details that will impress an employer. Show up early. Ask what extra can be done, and then do it. And if everyone else is off in a group talking and horsing around, don’t join that group.
