“Fair” weather helping with attendance at the Big E

Attendance records set over the weekend

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The fun continues at the Big E, and the weather has been great so far. Even though it was a Monday, the fair was packed with people taking advantage of the weather.

The fair always begins on the second week in September, and for the past 99 years, all organizers and vendors can do is hope that the rain holds-off. Weather-wise, the Big E couldn’t have come at a better time.

J.J. Juliano, the special events director for the Big E, told 22News that they are hoping the great weather will help them set records.

“”We broke a record again- this is two years in a row- we had great attendance, yesterday and also on Saturday, and it’s looking like it’s going to be great the next 10 days!” Juliano said.

This has been the driest Big E in quite a while; usually there are at least a couple days of rain. Without rain in the forecast anytime soon, people are able to go when it’s most convenient for them, rather than when they think the weather will cooperate.
