CHICOPEE Mass. (WWLP) – By this time tomorrow, Pope Francis will have arrived in Washington, DC to begin his first visit to the United States.

The anticipation and excitement has been building for weeks ahead of this historic papal trip, which also includes stops in New York City before the World Meeting of Families in Philadelphia this weekend.

Bishop Mitchell Rozanski told 22News Pope Francis is a powerful, charismatic leader because he loves people, challenges them in their faith, and leads by example.

Bishop Rozanski said, “He’s visiting the homeless in Washington, prisoners in Philadelphia, and showing the Church needs to be everywhere — that means especially on the margins of society.”

All week, 22News will be LIVE on the Pope’s journey through the United States, so you, too, can witness history. Make sure to watch 22News and keep up to date at WWLP.com.
