HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – Two men were shot in Ward 4 of Holyoke early Sunday afternoon.
The shooting occurred in broad daylight, a little after 2 p.m. on Dwight Street.
Uniformed officers, as well as detectives, are conducting a house-to-house search looking for the gunmen who reportedly fired fifteen shots.
The men were transported to Baystate Medical Center.
Holyoke Police Lt. Larry Cournoyer told 22News this is an active gang area that has seen its share of violence.
Police Lt. Jim Albert told 22News several houses were hit as two groups of men fired back and forth.
22News spoke with one neighbor who declined to be identified, but saw what happened after the shooting.
“One guy was shot in the shoulder and the other guy was shot in the leg. And they jumped into the building right by my house.”
Witnesses and the victims are not cooperating with the police.
