Police: 1 dead, 2 seriously injured in shooting

Police say the shooting happened just after 5:30 p.m. Saturday

NORTH CANAAN, Conn. (AP) — A triple shooting in North Canaan has left a former Connecticut State Police dispatcher dead and two others seriously injured.

Police say the shooting happened just after 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

Trooper Tyler Weerden said in a news release that Brian Johnson, 55, of North Canaan, was pronounced dead on the scene. A second victim, 54-year-old Anthony Carubba of Sheffield, Massachusetts, is in a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police say the third person, 51-year-old Bruce Johnson, also of Sheffield, is the suspected shooter and is in critical condition at a hospital.

Weerden says Brian Johnson dedicated his life to serving the citizens of Connecticut in his role as a dispatcher with Troop B in New Canaan before retiring to care for his elderly parents.

The investigation is continuing.
