Early morning house fire in Longmeadow

LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – A family can’t stay in their home this morning after a fire overnight in Longmeadow.

Longmeadow Fire Captain Karl Zinnack told 22news, a police office noticed smoke coming from a house at 223 Redfern Drive around 2 o’clock Sunday morning and called firefighters.

When they got there, firefighters found a fire in upper floors of the home. They had the fire under control in about 20 minutes and were able to contain the fire to the attic.

According to Captain Zinnack, no one was home when the fire started. The family that lives there will have to find another place to stay because of the damage to the home.

Firefighters are still trying to determine how the fire started.
