Woman was hit in the head with a rock

ERVING, Mass. (WWLP) – A portion of Route 2 in eastern Franklin County was shut down to traffic for about an hour, as a medical helicopter has was called-in to help an injured rock climber.

Erving Police Patrolman Patrick Merrigan told 22News that around 11:00, the climber was at the bottom of a rock wall at Farley Ledges, when a rock tumbled down onto her head.

State Trooper David Stewart told 22News that police shut down Route 2 between the two points where Old State Road intersects with the state highway as the helicopter landed to bring the woman to the hospital. The road has since re-opened.
