WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Big E is known to bring vendors and spectators from all over New England, but some vendors travel much farther to take advantage of the huge crowds the fair brings in.
On Thursday, the fair grounds were full of vendors preparing for the first day of the Big E; the fair helps more than just the local economy. Vendors traveled from as far as other countries to sell their goods and services to the 2.5 million people who attend the fair.
Brian De Staic Jewelry, a company from Ireland, told 22News they have been to other fairs but they come back here year after year because they do so well. Sarah Rusk said, “The business has been coming here since 1999 so about 16 years. We have a good connection we have repeat customers, we have a very good connection here with people.”
The 17 day long fair brings in hundreds of millions of dollars to West Springfield and the surrounding region.
Gates open Friday at 8:00AM and most exhibits open at 10:00AM.
