GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Connecticut River flows through Vermont, Massachusetts, and Connecticut before dumping out into the Atlantic Ocean, and one organization will be gathering hundreds of people to clean up the river next week.
The Connecticut River Watershed Council will be holding their 19th annual ‘Source to Sea Cleanup’ event. Hundreds of people are expected to gather along the banks of the Connecticut River to do what they can to clean it.
Angela Mrozinski of the Connecticut River Watershed Council told 22News, “Well, clean water has lots of benefits to our communities. So, the cleaner the water is, the safer it is to recreate in, boat, swim, fish, things like that. If it’s dirty, it can be harmful to us as we recreate and also harmful to the wildlife who live there and call that their home. So we want to make sure it’s safe for them as well.”
The cleanup event will be taking place at several locations along the Connecticut River next Friday and Saturday.
