Corn stalks leading to complaints in Sunderland

State law requires drivers secure loads to prevent debris from flying out

SUNDERLAND, Mass. (WWLP) – Police in Sunderland are reminding drivers of farm trucks that they need to cover up loads they are hauling. According to the department, they have been receiving several complaints lately about ground-up corn stalks flying off the beds of dump and farm trucks. The stalks are ending up on the road, as well as on cars, and on people.

State law requires that trucks have their loads covered, in order to prevent objects from coming out onto the road. Those found in violation of this law face a $200 fine.
