SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Primary elections are being held in many western Massachusetts communities Tuesday. That includes Chicopee, Springfield, and West Springfield.

Three candidates are running for a seat on Chicopee’s city council. Tuesday’s primary will narrow the field down to two.

In Springfield, voters will choose from six candidates running for mayor, including incumbent mayor Domenic Sarno.

West Springfield mayor Edward Sullivan is giving up his seat after one term in office.
In tomorrow’s primary elections, voters will choose one of three candidates vying for his seat.

West Springfield voter John M. told 22News he plans on heading to the polls, and hopes everyone else does too. “Everybody should vote, regardless of what day or what week, it’s very important.”

The general election for all three races will be held November 3rd.
