SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Lower prices at the pumps means more traffic heading home this Labor Day.
The average price for gas in Massachusetts is $2.37 per gallon. AAA Pioneer Valley said almost 90 percent of the people traveling this weekend drove to their destinations.
Some people said the price of gas does not factor into their decision to travel on Labor Day weekend. Tony Diaz of Springfield told 22News, “The gas prices were okay up to now, they’re not too bad. Plus, we enjoy the weekend no matter what the price of gas is.”
If you’re heading home Monday night, AAA suggests leaving after 10:00pm to avoid traffic, and reduce your risk of getting in an accident. It’s a good idea to have a friend drive for you if you are feeling tired, sick, or have been drinking.
