Two people hospitalized after car crashed and caught fire in Longmeadow

The two women, 35 years old and 50 years old respectively, were rescued from the burning car

LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Tragedy averted overnight in Longmeadow when a car caught fire after colliding with a tree, injuring the two passengers in the car.

22News cameras were rolling as firefighters put out the fire at Converse Street and Lake Drive around one o’clock Saturday morning.

The two women, 35 years old and 50 years old respectively, were rescued from the burning car and taken to Baystate Medical Center. Both are expected to recover.

Longmeadow Police Lt. Robert Stocks told 22News the 49 year old man behind the wheel will most likely be cited for motor vehicle infractions.

Police have ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash.
