WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s Labor Day weekend, which means many people plan on driving to their holiday weekend destination.
If you do plan on driving, you’ll probably have plenty of company on the road Saturday morning. AAA says nearly 35.5 million people are expected to travel for the holiday weekend, and nearly 90% of those people plan on driving.
AAA says low gas prices are part of the reason why so many people plan on going away this year.
This weekends gas prices are the lowest we’ve seen in more than a decade here in Massachusetts.
A Connecticut driver told 22News he usually goes away for Labor Day every year, but low gas prices are definitely a plus.
Drivers will be paying about $1.10 less than they did this time last year in Massachusetts, which is a welcome gift for many drivers celebrating the unofficial end of summer with one last vacation.
