Suspects arrested in death of Texas cop could face capital murder charges

ABILENE, Texas (KXAN) — More information is expected today about the two suspects arrested in connection with an Abilene Police Officer’s death.

The Texas Rangers could upgrade their charges to capital murder.

Officer Don Allen was found dead Aug. 31 in his home in West Texas.

Authorities are still uncertain of the motive behind the officer’s death. Police do say they have been able to link the pair to stolen property from the officer’s home.

Suspects Phillip Walter and Violetta Walter were arrested in suspicion of Allen’s death.

Both Walters are charged with first degree murder in the death of the Abilene police officer.

Allen’s funeral is set for late Friday morning.
