STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WWLP) – The long holiday weekend is off to a very rough start on the roads, with two accidents and big backups on the Mass. Pike.
Trooper Matt Guarino told 22News they closed the Pike in both directions Friday night to land a helicopter there to air-lift a crash victim to the hospital. That was from a rollover crash in Sturbridge at 8:45 Friday night.
Earlier in the day, a seven-car crash slowed traffic on the eastbound side of the Massachusetts Turnpike at Exit 9, which is the I-84 interchange. State Police tweeted people were injured and that they expected heavy delays into the evening.
