Downed wires shut down Ryan Road in Florence

Police anticipate cleanup and repair will take several hours

FLORENCE, Mass. (WWLP) – A stretch of Ryan Road in the Florence section of Northampton was shut down for hours on Friday, due to downed wires.

According to Northampton Police, the roadway was shut down between Brookside Circle and O’Connell Drive from the morning through mid-afternoon. National Grid crews were called in to make repairs. Despite the disruption to traffic, the company had only reported nine customers without power in the immediate area.

The road was back open again after 3:00 P.M.
