GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A section of Route 2 in Greenfield was shut down for nearly 11 hours following a tractor trailer crash early Friday morning.
Trooper Scott Boutell of the State Police Barracks in Shelburne Falls told 22News the accident happened at around 1:45am on Route 2 near Factory Hollow Road, along Fall Brook. He said the tractor trailer crashed onto its side, shutting down a portion of the road leading to I-91 and Greenfield.
According to Greenfield Police, the driver of the truck was taken to Baystate Medical Center for “significant injuries,” but is expected to survive.
It was originally anticipated that the road would open sometime after 7:00, but it ended up taking much longer for the accident to clear. Both sides of Route 2 were finally re-opened shortly after 12:30.
