Replacing the street lights in Montague

The town is replacing street lights with energy efficient LED lights

MONTAGUE, Mass. (WWLP) – Drivers and pedestrians may soon notice some changes on Avenue “A” in the Montague village of Turners Falls.

Many people who drive or walk down Avenue “A” in Montague have noticed construction crews working. That’s because Turners Falls is upgrading the sidewalks on the corner of Third Street.

The town is also replacing a lot of the street lights with brand new energy efficient LED street lights. Montague residents told 22News they’re happy about the improvement.

“I mean, I guess, as long as the money is going to good use to, like, improve the downtown area. I would say that’s a good thing.” Kyle Chelluk of Montague told 22News.

Brittany Bruce told 22News, “Hopefully it’ll bring more people in, may be the local businesses around here will get more recognition because of it.”

This project has been in the works for a while. All of the work is expected to be completed towards the end of October.
