NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Jury deliberations will resume on Wednesday in the trial of Adam Liccardi, the third young man charged with the gang rape of a UMass student in her dorm room back in 2012.
Prosecutors allege that Liccardi, along with Caleb Womack, Emmanuel Bile, Jr., and Justin King forced themselves on the intoxicated, barely-conscious victim, raping her over a period of several hours. Prosecutor Jennifer Suhl said that Bile, Womack, and King, had left the room following the attack, but Liccardi had stayed behind.
Liccardi’s attorney Alfred Chamberland said that his client did not take part in the rape.
All of the defendants have been tried separately, with Bile receiving an 8-10 year prison sentence after being found guilty, and King being sentenced to 8-12 years. Womack has yet to be tried.
