CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The New England Patriots will face the Carolina Panthers at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, in Week 3 of the 2015 NFL Preseason.

FINAL GAME SCORE: Patriots 17, Panthers 16

The Patriots are still working to figure things out, losing in Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers, 22-11, and then having to make a comeback in Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints, winning 26-24.

The Panthers on the other hand have been on a roll, even though they’ve lost several key players to injuries and quarterback Cam Newton was involved in a practice brawl. They won their first two Preseason games against the Buffalo Bills, 25-24, and the Miami Dolphins, 31-30; two teams looking to take the Patriots division crown.

One good note for the Patriots in the first two Preseason games is that backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has been improving. If Tom Brady’s four game suspension for his alleged involvement in the deflategate investigation is not reduced or absolved, Garoppolo will be asked to take over for the future Hall of Famer.

The Patriots have not faced the Panthers since November of 2013, in the Regular Season. Before beating the Seattle Seahawks in last season’s Super Bowl, the Panthers were the last team the Pats beat in the championship game. In Super Bowl XXXVIII, Patriots beat the Panthers, 32-29, on February of 2004 in Houston, Texas.
