SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A number of Western Massachusetts women don’t have a lot of money to buy fashionable clothes. But they’re hoping to make a good impression during a job interview wearing donated stylish outfits.
For the next five days, women will have a new place to go to buy professional work attire at deep discounts. The organization Dress for Success opened a temporary store Thursday at the former American Eagle location at the Eastfield Mall.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning began a five-day “tag sale” at the store, in which for $25, women can buy all the clothing from the store they can fit inside a bag they provide. The clothing was donated by women from around the area.
Courtney Willis told 22News that for her, wearing these fine donated clothes for a job interview was a real confidence builder.
“Having confidence in yourself to go out and look for a jpob in decent clothes, no matter where they come from, it does matter how they look, It gives you a lot of confidence to sit in front of somerone to be interviewed for a job,” Willis said.
Dress For Success maintains a permanent location at 530 Worthington Street in downtown Springfield.
