Cocaine & pot seized in variety store drug raid

One of the suspects arrested is facing multiple gun and drug charges

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Three men were arrested in East Springfield after a drug raid at a local variety store on St. James Avenue.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, detectives obtained a search warrant to “Red’s Variety Store” at 1196 St. James Avenue after an investigation and narcotics officers witnessed some drug activity. The Springfield Drug Unit conducted the drug raid.

Police arrested 38-year-old Delano Mark Walker, 56-year-old Kenneth Hill, and 54-year-old Colan Mctier. Sgt. Delaney said police searched the suspects and the store, and seized packaged crack cocaine, marijuana, $1,469 in cash, 1 scale, packaging materials, and 1 stolen Ruger LCR 38 special with 2 rounds.

Walker was charged with Possession Firearm without ID, Possession Ammo without ID, Receiving Stolen Property over $250, Improper Storage of Firearm, Two Counts of Distribution Class B, Distribution Class D, Possession to Distribute Class B, and Possession Firearm in Felony.

Hill was charged with Distribution Class B and Possession of Class B with Intent, while Mctier was charged with Possession of Class B.

Sgt. Delaney also noted that Lt. Alberto Ayala led the investigation and Detective Luke Cournoyer obtained the search warrant.
