CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – After a stormy morning for those of you north and west of the Lower Pioneer Valley, more storms look likely to return this afternoon.
Heavy downpours brought reports of 2-3″ of rain this morning in Franklin County. After a brief break with plenty of dry weather, we expect more pop up storms and downpours this afternoon.
Increasing breaks in the clouds and more sunshine should help to energize the return of some potentially strong or even severe afternoon storms.
The main threats for the storms that develop this afternoon into the early evening would be for frequent lightning, street flooding, some damaging winds and even small hail. Right now our overall severe weather threat for the afternoon is ‘Low-Medium’ and we will continue to evaluate changing weather conditions as we get closer to the afternoon.
Storms will remain possible into this evening before drying up by midnight.
Aside from the storm threat, you’ll notice how uncomfortably humid it is outside. Humidity drops to more tolerable levels by tomorrow.
